Composting is important to us at Cascade Couriers. With food waste contributing about 11% to our nation's landfills it's time to broaden our idea of recycling. Most reasonable people today would not throw away a plastic bottle or even a piece of paper. We would like to see that same commitment to things like banana peels and coffee grounds. It is a simple step you can take to curb a growing problem, and we'll make it even easier for you.

If space is an issue or you simply do not have time to maintain bins and tumblers, we provide an easy alternative.

Here's how it works:
After signing up, we will send you an e-mail letting you know when your normal collection days will be. We will stop by on that day and drop off a 3 gallon sealed bucket for you to store your kitchen scraps. Along with the bucket, we provide a box of 12 compostable liners for you to use to keep the container neat and clean. We also provide a refrigerator magnet with a calendar on it to cirle your collection dates. We will then come by on our bikes to pick up the food waste on a weekly, biweekly(every other week), or monthly basis depending on your need. Where your scraps go next is the best part. We deliver the food waste to Field's Farm. They use it to produce the fruits and vegetables we all enjoy at the Farmer's Market. It is a cycle that promotes alternative transportation, recycling, agriculture, and community.

There is a $15 start up fee that will be included on the first month's bill. We bill by e-mail(less paper wasted) on the 1st of the month for the previous month of service. If e-mail doesn't work for you we can drop off the invoice when we do our pick-ups.

One note to customers outside our current boundaries: Since there has been so much interest from the areas outside our boundaries, we decided to provide a drop off site for their waste. We charge $5 a month for this and waive the start up fee($6 will still be charged for the compostable liners)
